Backspace at Oto Float is a curriculum of small group classes for transformation + a space for community, reflection, and creativity. All told, this is where you will learn to let go of what was to make room for what is and what can be.
Classes run for between 5- and 7-weeks and are capped at between 5 and 15 participants. Teachers are experts in their respective fields and have a wealth of both academic and experiential knowledge.
The small-group, multi-week format provides the time, personal attention, and guidance that is needed to begin down the path of lasting change.
All of our classes have at their core the practice of paying attention. While topics, techniques, and strategies vary by class, the uniting theme is the willingness, skill, and fortitude to step into the present moment and to take a deep dive into self.
While not always easy, the great joy of this work is that, little by little, you begin to break free of old storylines and step into the great expanse of your own possibility.
As D.H. Lawrence wrote: We are not free when we are doing just what we want. We are only free when we are doing what our deepest self likes. And to do what the deepest self likes, takes some diving.
Backspace is a unique gem of a space, at once expansive and intimate. A soaring 22-foot ceiling with exposed wooden trusses is anchored by persian rugs.
A comfortable conversation area is offset by an open space for seated meditation. A small library houses many of our favorite books and our tea cart houses our favorite herbal teas and medicinal honeys.
Relaxing and reflecting, journaling and quiet conversations are always encouraged after class. There is never a need to rush out of the door at Backspace.
